Help Us Raise Money For Service Projects in Portland, and Around the World!

On November 7, 2015 the Portland Pearl Rotary Club will be holding "Puttin' On The Pearl", the annual gala to benefit our club's charitable foundation, the Pearl Fund.

The Pearl Fund provides financial support for service projects conducted by our club, in cooperation with other Rotary Clubs in our city, our district, and around the world. Current and recent projects include:

  • Supporting the Open Meadow Alternative School by providing scholarships for at-risk eighth-grade students to attend summer camp programs, and by mentoring high-school students.
  • Providing dictionaries to all third-grade students at 8 elementary schools in Portland.
  • Providing meals, counseling, and computers to the clients of Transitions Projects, Inc.
  • Sponsoring in-bound and out-bound Exchange Students
  • Providing clean water, toilets, and sanitation facilities to the Souer village in Cambodia (in partnership with the Golden Leaf Education Foundation and Water Mission International)
  • Funding dental exams, preventative-sealant application, dental-hygiene education, and dental-care kits to 2,000 school-age children in Nepal, plus extensive dental work for 750 villagers.
  • Providing 40 Scholarships for girls to attend middle- and high-school at the Discovery School in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Supporting the installation of a water-delivery and filtration system for a settlement of 5,000 people in SW Kenya
  • Funding the installation of solar panels on a rural hospital in Nepal.
  • Supporting a medical mission by Operation of Hope, to provide cleft-palate surgeries in Zimbabwe.

...all of which could not happen without the support of club members, community partners, and you!
